The complete and total humiliation of the Washington Redskins is now complete with the beleaguered NFL franchise preparing to announce a name change after a brutal assault from the “woke” revolution and its corporate sponsors.
According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, the team will be announcing the name change within 24-48 hours and in doing so will have provided a prized scalp for social justice warriors who have been demanding the change for years.
With the killing of unarmed black Minneapolis resident George Floyd by a rogue cop having served as the basis to supercharge the radical left’s hijacking of sports as well as giving an opening to Colin Kaepernick and his cult of kneelers, the Redskins were faced with unrelenting pressure.
The dam appeared to burst after corporations joined the calls for a name change, led by shipping giant FedEx which holds the naming rights for the Redskins’ Landover, MD stadium along with PepsiCo and Nike which pulled team merchandise from its online store.
Robinson dropped the bomb on Dallas radio program ESPN 103.3 FM and reported that the NFL is ready to “tell everybody who has Washington’s nickname on its platform to start scrubbing it.”
Via Washington DC’s Fox5, “Washington Redskins name change imminent: report”:
A Washington Redskins name change is imminent, according to a report.
Senior NFL reporter for Yahoo Charles Robinson told ESPN Radio’s Dallas-Fort Worth station that “Washington is about to have a new name – over the next 24, 48 hours.”
Robinson said he does not know what the name will be, but that the NFL is “taking steps to tell everybody who has Washington’s nickname on its platform to start scrubbing it.”
FOX 5 has reached out to the Redskins organization for more information.
So far, they have not removed any of their existing iconography from their platforms.
The Redskins have been under increasing pressure to change their controversial nickname and logo.
Within the last two weeks, FedEx – which owns the naming rights to Washington’s stadium – asked the team to change its name.
The Redskins have said they will conduct a “thorough review” of the team’s name.
By crumbling under the pressure, Redskins owner Daniel Snyder has put the finishing touches on his demolition of the once-proud franchise which has been mired in mediocrity since he bought the team in 1999.
Snyder has resisted previous efforts to bully him into submission but once the corporate sponsors joined the mob it was a done deal.
The Redskins have been the Redskins since before the team even relocated to the nation’s capital city way back in 1937. They were previously the Boston Redskins from the day of the team’s inception in 1932.
The buzz is that there are several alternatives with Warriors seeming to have the best shot at replacing Redskins; the team is expected to keep its burgundy and gold color scheme.
Expect a major push for other teams with Native American nicknames and logos to take place now that the mob has the scent of blood and will never be satisfied.
