Texas Billionaire & Former Presidential Candidate Ross Perot Passes Away at 89

The nation lost a great American today as Texas Billionaire and former presidential candidate Ross Perot has passed away at the age of 89.

Perot was way ahead of his time, as my good friend Charles Payne points out in his tweet below. Perot was truly a pioneer. He called out NAFTA for what it was 25 years before President Trump was elected and eliminated it.

Perot was famous for his “Giant Sucking Sound” quote that Payne used below.

“We have got to stop sending jobs overseas. pay a dollar an hour…have no health care, no environmental controls, no pollution controls, no retirement, you don’t care about anything but making money, there will be a “giant sucking sound going south.”

Senator Ted Cruz left this heartfelt response for the loss of Perot on his Twitter feed.

“Our hearts are heavy as we bid farewell to Ross Perot. In his 89 years on earth, he lived the American dream to the fullest. Ross is a Texas legend. He will be remembered as an outstanding entrepreneur, philanthropist, and dedicated husband and father.”

Perot has done something that no Independent has ever done. He pulled 19% of the popular vote in 1992. Many Republicans blame him for Bill Clinton’s election, but he set a path to the White House that an Independent can make a run.

From all of us at The DC Patriot, we send our thoughts and prayers to the Perot family tonight.
