Rapper Kanye West Announces He Is Running For President

On Saturday, rapper Kanye West announced that he was running for President of the United States in 2020.

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future,” West wrote. “I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION”

Since President Donald Trump took office, West has been very vocal about politics in America. Just last year, the rapper praised the Republican Party for abolishing slavery: “Abraham Lincoln was the Whig Party, that’s the Republican Party that freed the slaves.”

“That’s the Republican Party that freed the slaves,” West added.

Earlier this year, West also made it clear that he would be voting in the 2020 election.

“And we know who I’m voting on,” West said. “And I’m not going to be told by the people around me and the people that have their agenda that my career is going to be over. Because guess what: I’m still here!”

“Black people are controlled by emotions through the media,” West added. “The media puts musicians, artists, celebrities, actors in a position to be the face of the race, that really don’t have any power and really are just working for white people. When it’s said like that, it’s kind of obvious, right? We emotionally connect to someone of our color on TV and feel that this person is speaking for us. So let me say this: I am the founder of a $4 billion organization, one of the most Google-searched brands on the planet, and I will not be told who I’m gonna vote on because of my color.”

“Both my parents were freedom fighters, and they used to drink from fountains they were told they couldn’t drink from, and they used to sit in restaurants where they were told they couldn’t eat from,” West continued. “They didn’t fight for me to be told by white people which white person I can vote on.”

So is Kanye West serious about running for President? Tesla CEO Elon Musk sure thinks so.

“You have my full support!” Musk tweeted.

Some people, including political commentators on both sides of the isle, think that West’s decision to run for President is actually an attempt for him to help President Trump secure re-election.

“Kanye West is direct evidence of how huge of a loss Trump realizes he’s about to suffer in the election. This is just the beginning of Trump’s attempts to cheat. Expect a lot more from the conman in the months ahead,” said one far left Twitter user.

“Kanye West is going to help Trump win the 2020 election because he doesn’t care about Black Americans or any Americans for that matter. He is going to take votes from Biden just because Trump’s tax cuts on the wealthy help him become even wealthier. Kanye is the new Jill Stein,” said the same Twitter user.

“Mrs. Krassenstein” also compared Kanye West to David Duke.

“Kanye West is obviously Trump’s desperation plan to take votes from Biden. This is like Biden convincing David Duke to run for President. Hopefully Americans don’t fall for this disgusting trick,” they said.

Conservative journalist Mike Cernovich thinks that Kanye West running for President would actually help President Trump.

“Kanye would take enough votes from Biden to swing the election,” he tweeted.
