PENCE BACKS TRUMP, DOESN’T WEAR MASK AT MAYO CLINIC VISIT

Vice-President Mike Pence chose not to wear a face mask Tuesday during a tour of the renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  Video feeds show that pence wasn’t wearing a mask when he met with a Mayo employee who has recovered from COVID-19 and is now donating plasma.

Also, in a sit down discussion about Mayo’s conronavirus testing and research programs, he did not wear a mask.  Other participants did, including FDA chief Stephen Hahn, top Mayo officials, Gov. Tim Walz and U.S. Rep Jim Hagedorn.  The Vice-President did avoid shaking hands, but did elbow bumps with doctors and officials.

Pence explained his decision by stressing that he has been frequently tested for the virus.  He also said, “Since I don’t have the coronavirus, which according to the CDC the mask only prevents spreading if you have the virus, I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to be here, and speak to these incredible health care personnel and look them in the eye and say thank you.”

Pence also went without a mask last week when he visited a GE Healthcare facility that makes ventilators, in Madison, WI.
