The Pentagon has received a new request from within the Trump administration to build roughly 270 miles of wall on the border with Mexico and is evaluating its cost and viability, a senior Defense Department official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said on Thursday.
The disclosure sets up the Pentagon for another showdown with Democrats in Congress, who oppose President Donald Trump’s past diversion of billions of dollars in military spending to make good on campaign promises to bolster security on the border.
The official also said the Pentagon’s review would probably take about two weeks.
The President is keeping his promises to his voters, it’s impossible to argue that point. A politician who keeps his promises, that’s like a unicorn.
