A server at an Illinois IHOP is starting off 2020 with a very generous tip, thanks to Donnie Wahlberg.
The “Blue Bloods” actor gave a $2,020 tip to his server on a $78.46 bill. Wahlberg’s wife, actress Jenny McCarthy, tweeted out a picture of the receipt with #2020tipchallenge.
This isn’t the first instance of a generous tip to start out the new year. Days before ringing in 2020 in Michigan, waitress Danielle Franzoni received a $2,020 tip from a customer.
“Happy New Year,” Franzoni’s receipt read, as well as a message to others in good fortune, “2020 Tip Challenge.”
On the tip line they left $2,020. Franzoni couldn’t believe it.
“I asked my manager, ‘Was this real?’” Franzoni said. The manager assured her it was.
“They don’t know nothing about my story. They don’t know where I’ve come from. They don’t know how hard it’s been,” Franzoni said. “They’re really just doing this out of the kindness of their heart.”
