Last week The DC Patriot reported Virginia Delegate Kathy Tran (D) presented a bill that would allow abortions at 40 weeks gestation -FULL TERM – up to the point of dilation. (HB2491, or the Repeal Act) One day later, the Governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam (D), made comments that outraged many over his stance on the late term abortion bill.
During an interview with WTOP radio last Wednesday, Gov. Northam made the following statements:
“If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and mother.”
Northam is asked about the bill around the 38:45 min mark in the following video from WTOP’s Official Facebook account:
When asked the next day if he had any regrets, Northam said, “No, I don’t have any regrets, but I do find, you know, that how my comments, I did answer that question, I regret that those comments have been mischaracterized, the personal insults toward me, I really find disgusting.”
Just two days later, photos of Northam in blackface and standing beside another person dressed as a Klu Klux Klan member surfaced and went viral. The photo was in the 1984 edition of the Eastern Virginia Medical School yearbook, and allegedly chosen to be printed by Northam himself.
Almost immediately, all talks of infanticide disappeared. The photo of Northam and those calling for him to resign DROWNED OUT the OUTRAGEOUS comments he made just two days prior about killing preborn babies and babies that were delivered and “kept comfortable” until their fate was decided.
Not only did Kamala Harris (D-CA), former Democratic National Committee chair Howard Dean, and others call for Northam’s resignation, but The National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws (NARAL) and Planned Parenthood also made statements calling for the governor to resign.
President of NARAL, Ilyse Hogue (@ilyseh) tweeted, ” Governor Ralph Northam admitted that he is pictured in the racist photo in his medical school yearbook. Making amends and rebuilding trust must start with resigning his post. Virginians deserve better. “
As well as Planned Parenthood president Leana Wen releasing the following statement regarding the racist photos of Northam:
“As the nation’s largest provider of reproductive health care, we have a responsibility to advocate for all patients, and to provide compassionate health care to all people who walk through our doors.
There is no place for Gov. Ralph Northam’s racist actions or language. He must step down as Governor. The people of Virginia need to be able to trust that their leaders will fight for them and support policies that protect their health, safety, and value their communities. Gov. Northam’s actions put that in doubt.”
The main question you must ask yourself is CUI BONO? (WHO BENEFITS?)
Gov. Northam’s comments last week brought attention to the efforts to lengthen the amount of time a woman could have an abortion – up to the moment of birth. Abortion advocates like NARAL and Planned Parenthood would love nothing more than to take the attention off of their plans. How convenient is this for them?? Now INFANTICIDE has been put on the back burner while the mainstream media focuses on the racist photo from 1984.
On CNN’s “State Of The Union” Sunday with Jake Tapper, special assistant to former President George W. Bush, Scott Jennings, joined a roundtable discussion where he discussed human dignity – or lack thereof – with Northam’s comments on late term abortion and the newly racist photos resurfacing:
“But I want to touch on a comment you made in the phrase human dignity because this is the second moment where Ralph Northam this week failed to respect human dignity. The first moment, of course, was when he made his ghoulish, horrific statements about abortion. This was his second PR debacle this week.
Previous to this blackface-KKK robe-moonwalking press conference he was on a radio show. He’s a pediatrician talking about — talking about aborting children at the moment of birth and then even after they had been delivered. I agree with you, Bakari. Human dignity matters and we ought to respect every human life of every race, especially these poor babies who are laying in delivery rooms when you have governors of states that think we should have a discussion about murdering them after they were born?-Jennings in response to an earlier comment from CNN’s Bakari Sellers saying that Northam in blackface showed lack of human dignity to African Americans.
Dem. Karen Finney interrupts Jennings and says, “That’s a lie. What you’re saying is a ghoulish lie. I am on the board of NARAL Pro-Choice America. That is a lie that the right-wing has perpetuated … I heard what he said. I don’t agree with what he said and the way he said it. But what we’re talking about is making sure that, in those instances, it is a woman and a doctor — not anyone at this table or anyone in Congress — making the decision.”
The conversation quickly shifted from Northam’s comments on late term abortion to how racist America has become.
Being outraged over a 35 year old photo (which absolutely has its place), has now effectively taken the attention off of the fact that Dems want the right to abort babies, even to deliver, then kill newborns. The timing of the photo being uncovered is convenient for some to say the least.
