The Department of Justice has approved a security detail for top White House coronavirus task force official Dr. Anthony Fauci.
According to reports Thursday, it approved a request from the Department of Health and Human Services for more than half a dozen special agents to provide protective services to Dr. Fauci.
This came amid reports the infectious disease expert has been receiving unspecified threats. When asked if the pressure of the job is affecting him in an interview Thursday, Dr. Fauci said there is “a lot of pressure,” but it’s the life he’s chosen.
“I’ve been through crises like this before dating back 37 years to the very beginning of the HIV epidemic,” he stated. “It’s a job to do and we’ve just got to do it.”
