To say that it hasn’t been a good week for 2020 candidate Bernie Sanders would be a huge understatement and it just keeps getting worse.
Now that Speaker Nancy Pelosi has finally delivered her impeachment package to the Senate, the trial will soon begin and instead of being in Iowa as he planned, Sanders is going to be forced to spend six days a week in Washington.
It is a perfect example of the old Chinese curse of “be careful of what you wish for, you may get it” because the braying old socialist has been in lockstep with Democrats seeking to overturn the 2016 election and influence the next one as well.
Bernie’s enthusiasm for the lynching has ebbed now that a recent Des Moines Register poll shows him leading in the Hawkeye State but he has been hamstrung by the very impeachment fever that he helped to stoke.
Via The Washington Examiner, “Sanders: ‘I would rather be in Iowa’ than sitting in Trump’s impeachment trial”:
Bernie Sanders isn’t happy about being stuck in Washington for President Trump’s Senate trial.
“I would rather be in Iowa today. There’s a caucus there in 2 1/2 weeks. I’d rather be in New Hampshire, and Nevada, and so forth. But I swore a constitutional oath as a United States senator to do my job, and I’m here to do my job,” the Vermont senator told reporters on Capitol Hill on Thursday.
Sanders, 78, added he believed Democrats understood he needed to balance his responsibilities but noted the trial shouldn’t distract them other pressing matters.
“We’ve got to deal with this impeachment trial, but we cannot forget the very serious problems facing the American people,” he said.
