Congrats New York, you’re today’s big loser, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez couldn’t be happier with herself.
Amazon has cancelled it’s long awaited HQ2 Headquarters in New York after Ocasio-Cortez opened her mouth and started attacking the tech giant saying New York didn’t want them.
The move will cost New York and her district 25,000+ jobs. She was upset about the $3 billion that Amazon would receive in tax credits for opening the location. You would have to be a corporate moron to want to open a large headquarters in New York with their tax rates, without the incentives.
Those elected officials who fought Amazon tooth and nail without flexibility just lost 25,000 jobs for their constituents and the people of New York City.
Amazon released the following statement;
“While polls show that 70% of New Yorkers support our plans and investment, a number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City.”
Well, congrats New York. Now you can dance the night away knowing your company lost $BILLIONS in revenue, 25,000 in jobs, and the world’s largest company having a headquarters in your state. Way to go!
