During what has been the worst quality Super Bowl of recent memory, an off the field spar between Roger Goodell and Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports continued.
While stadium security would typically be trying to protect the crowds from violence and terrorism, the Boston Herald reported that there were images of Dave Portnoy that were circulated through event security.
Dave Portnoy has been feuding with the NFL commissioner since the Deflate-Gate scandal, where numerous accusations were made about Tom Brady and the Patriots that were deemed to be unfounded. Portnoy was carried out of the facility by event security and (it looks like) accompanied by NFL Security.
Barstool Sports has profited off of selling Goodell t-shirts representing him as a clown. One of their most popular t-shirts, recently Saints Coach Sean Payton was spotted in what may likely be the shirt.
Earlier this week, Portnoy had attended the NFL Opening Night Media session, which Barstool is banned from, to ask questions. He was fully aware that he would get kicked out, but his image as Franny Lydon is spectacular.
After he got ejected from media day, he went on Tucker Carlson to discuss Goodell in a truthful manner. Tucker enjoyed the interview and Portnoy’s analysis was accurate.
The NFL is awful and we can only wait for college football to remind us the sport is still watchable. We are just over six and a half months from turning on Arizona at Hawaii.
