Fake copies of The Washington Post that claimed (falsely) that President Trump stepped down were being handed out at Union Station and throughout downtown DC on Wednesday by a group of “activists”.

The headline read, “UNPRESIDENTED” with the byline “Trump hastily departs White House, ending crisis.”

This is unheard of in America, this is state ran Iran like tactics.

Check out the photo’s below, this by the way isn’t a drill patriots.

The bogus papers were dated May 1, 2019 and contained fictional stories throughout. Other #FakeNews headlines in the paper included stories titled “Pres. Pence begins ‘clipped duck’ term,” “Celebrations break out worldwide as Trump era ends,” “From #MeToo to ‘You’re Fired,’ The actions that turned the tide” “How DC stepped up to shut down Trump,” and “Blame Crooked Hillary & HFIOR-Surge of protests proves too much for Trump.”

Excerpt from the main headline:

“On May 1, barely six months after the midterm elections, Donald Trump appears to have abandoned the White House and abdicated his role as president. He issued no formal statement, though four White House aides — who spoke on the condition of anonymity — claim they found a napkin on the president’s desk in the Oval Office on the evening of April 30, scrawled in red ink with the following message: “Blame Crooked Hillary & Hfior & the Fake News Media.”

The PR account for Wapo quickly responded to the #FakeNews on their Twitter account:

“There are fake print editions of The Washington Post being distributed around downtown DC, and we are aware of a website attempting to mimic The Post’s. They are not Post products, and we are looking into this.”

A group identified as The Yes Men, who call themselves a “trickster activist collective,” took responsibility for creating the paper.

Author L.A. Kauffman and writer Onnesha Roychoudhuri have also admitted to being involved in the creation of the fake news Wapo edition.

Kauffman tweeted early on Wednesday morning:

“Trump Hastily Departs White House, Ending Crisis”: We’re in front of the White House handing out this special edition of the @washingtonpost#ByeBye45#BringHimDown

“The story this paper tells is more reasonable than our current reality,” Roychoudhuri said in a statement on the site. “And it’s anything but far-fetched. We’re already seeing unprecedented levels of protest and resistance. Now we just need to ask ourselves: What’s next? This paper offers a blueprint to help us reclaim our democracy.”

In a full page of The Washington Post imitation is an “article” titled “A look at the 61 bills” with the byline “Democrats have laid out a bold agenda. Here’s a run-down of some popular proposals,” along with a photo of Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

After seeing the fake edition, the REAL Washington Post decided to run their own version of the story, tweeting on their verified Twitter account:

“Today, activists passed out fake versions of The Post around D.C. The papers pointed to a fake website that included an article titled, simply, “A look at the 64 bills.” We figured such an article might as well exist on our actual site. So… here ya go.”

What’s next #FakeNews anchors, giving us fake stories each night? Oh, wait…we already have CNN, NBC, and ABC News. Guess we’ve got that covered.
