When you think about whom you want to run the State of Florida, who comes to mind?

Do you want a career politician, someone who’s spent his or her career in politics, often becoming entrenched in the problems instead of the solutions, or would you prefer someone new to the political arena that’s not afraid to push back against the status quo?

Current U.S. Representative for Florida’s Sixth District and native Floridian Ron DeSantis, is doing exactly that. The now-leading candidate in the Florida GOP Gubernatorial Primary according to a Remington Poll taken on July 6 having DeSantis in the lead with 43%, had a long-established career in the United States military as a decorated Naval Officer where he earned a bronze star medal for meritorious service and the Iraq campaign medal. He also served as a federal and military prosecutor.

As a United States Congressman, DeSantis has spent two short years in Congress fighting the swamp filled with establishment politicians. A leader in the anti-establishment movement that was started by then-candidate Donald Trump, DeSantis has proposed legislation, introducing bills into Congress that are highly unpopular with his fellow congressmen. He has declined to take a congressional pension along with proposing a Congress Act to end pensions for all of the U.S. Congress, he has led efforts to impose term limits on members of the U.S. Congress, he’s led the charge for no exemption for Washington from the failed ObamaCare, and introduced the Drain The Swamp Act which would toughen current bans on officials lobbying the government after their federal service has ended.

DeSantis, a graduate of Yale University who also graduated with Honors from Harvard Law School while he simultaneously earned a commission in the U.S. Navy as a JAG officer, served as a federal and military prosecutor.

Recently DeSantis has been at the forefront of many of the public hearings where Congress has administered questions into the behaviors of those working at The Justice Department and the FBI. This includes questioning disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok regarding his involvement in attempting to stop Trump from becoming president and questioning United States Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein on his investigation into the aforementioned hearing and his lack of providing documentation in response to Congress’ requests.

Not bought and paid for by Big Sugar like his opponent current Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam, DeSantis is beholden to no one other than his constituents. Speaking at his rally in Orlando on Wednesday, DeSantis spoke of his endorsement by the president, “There’s a reason Donald Trump endorsed me in this race because he knows I’m a leader.” DeSantis thanked the president for his endorsement last month via twitter.

The president’s eldest son, Donald Trump, Jr., also stumped for him at the rally, praising DeSantis for having been one of the first to stand behind his father in the fiery presidential race. DeSantis has also been endorsed by Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and Judge Jeanine Pirro. Former Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino and Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz also praised the candidate at the packed rally.

Speaking at the rally, DeSantis discussed issues important to his future constituents making it clear that he’s fighting for the people of Florida. He addressed Florida voters’ concerns such as the Lake Okeechobee drainage that is causing distress to the Florida coastlines and sea life, along with the three new justices he would have the opportunity to appoint to Florida’s Supreme Court if he’s elected as Governor. “The next Governor of Florida, in all likelihood, is gonna have three nominations to the state Supreme Court on the first day in office. What that means is, you have three liberal justices who have mandatory retirement. On day one, with a guy like me as governor who will appoint strong constitutionalists to the Supreme Court, we can end judicial activism in Florida for a generation,” an issue he’s tackled on Twitter.

DeSantis is a lifelong conservative who wants to continue draining the swamp on a state level.

The Florida gubernatorial primary is next month.

  1. Watching Ron’s Career from afar I hope that he is the new type trying to make changes in our political system. He sees what’s wrong and looks for solutions other than throw tax money at it.
