William Barr has decided to resign as Attorney General just before Christmas, President Trump has just announced on Twitter today, shortly after meeting with Barr and accepting his resignation.

Barr managed his tenure as Attorney General and was responsible for clearing President Trump of Collusion, a crackdown on violent gangs, Chinese spies and religious liberty violations.

The Twitter announcement is ending a tense week in which the president and his allies criticized the attorney general for both failing to reveal the existence of a Hunter Biden probe before the election and taking little public action to punish those who perpetrated the false Russian collusion narrative.

“Just had a very nice meeting with Attorney General Bill Barr at the White House.  Our relationship has been a very good one, he has done an outstanding job!”  Trump continued his tweet, “As per letter, Bill will be leaving just before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family.”

The president added, “Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen, an outstanding person, will become Acting Attorney General.  highly respected Richard Donoghue will be taking over the duties of Deputy Attorney General.  Thank you to all!”
