Troy Aikman, the lead NFL analyst for FOX along with lead play-by-play guy Joe Buck were caught on a 14 second ‘hot mic’ criticizing there being a flyover before the start of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ game at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida against the Green Bay Packers.   It was in front of a less-than-capacity crowd because of coronavirus seating limitations.

Aikman was critical of it being a lot of jet fuel to go over a reduced capacity crowd.  Buck made fun of this being America’s tax dollars at work.  Most people aren’t going to be offended by that, but Aikman’s last comment may have ruffled some feathers, when he said this wouldn’t happen on a Joe Biden-Kamala Harris presidential ticket. The ‘hot-mic’ comment went viral on Monday.

We know that the NFL and the United States Military have partnered up to celebrate patriotism before kickoff of games for years now.  Is it odd to see a flyover over a reduced capacity crowd?  Yes, but to throw the Democratic ticket under the bus like that won’t land well with those who lean left politically.

The comments, though, were evidently seen by many as anti-military (which they really weren’t).  So, come Tuesday, Aikman took to Twitter to clarify that his joke was not meant to disrespect the military.

Aikman’s twitter response said, “I love a flyover, but It was odd to see one over a mostly empty stadium, but I am an unwavering patriot that loves this country, have always respected our flag, supported the men and women in the armed forces as well as those in uniform who serve & protect and for anyone to suggest otherwise doesn’t know me, my beliefs or what I have stood for my entire life. — Troy Aikman (@TroyAikman) October 20, 2020

Not much of an apology was it America? Then the jab that this wouldn’t happen with a Biden/Harris presidency? Do you believe he’s even remotely apologetic, or did he just get caught?
