A judge in rural Oregon tossed out statewide coronavirus restrictions imposed by Democratic Governor Kate Brown, saying she didn’t seek the Legislature’s approval to extend the stay-at-home orders beyond a 28-day limit.
The Baker County Circuit Judge Matthew Shirtcliff issued his opinion in response to a lawsuit filed earlier this month by 10 churches around Oregon that argued the state’s social-distancing directives were unconstitutional.
Governor Brown’s attorneys asked the judge to stay his ruling until the high court could review the case, but he declined. Brown said she would immediately seek an emergency review by the Oregon Supreme Court.
She also said in a statement, “The science behind these executive orders hasn’t change one bit, staying home as much as possible, and wearing face coverings will save lives across Oregon.”
As so many of us have been told by doctors, in person, and on TV, masks do not work, and neither does social distancing. Herd immunity, in my opinion, is what we need, and we can’t get that quarantined to our homes.
The Oregon Supreme Court has already stopped this in favor of the governor. Oregon is controlled by democrats and vote by mail. In fact, democrats have had almosr total political control since vote by mail was started.
Most of us ignore Brown anyway. Only the big cities have a problem. The control freak in national leaders have been exposed throughout the nation. This is Brown’s last term, thank God! I have not met one person who likes her. Nor have I met any who voted for her. One solution does not fit all. Yes the inner cities should be well regulated right now.
