The FBI sent in special agents and its Evidence Response Team.

On Monday afternoon, the aircraft from the 1st Helicopter Squadron at Joint Base Andrews was flying a routine training mission over Middleburg, Virginia at an altitude of 1000 feet when it took fire from the ground according to an Air Force spokesperson.  One crew member on board the UH-1N Huey Helicopter had a minor injury.

They were already training for an instrument approach, so the helicopter quickly diverted to the airport to make an emergency landing.  The helicopter landed safely and initial findings are that the helicopter was struck by a bullet resulting in the minor injury and damage to the aircraft,  according the Air Force spokesperson.
