A Tyndale Raptor F-22 jet crashed about 12 miles northeast of the Eglin Air Force Base main facility during training over the Florida panhandle facility’s practice range around 9:15 a.m. on Friday morning, according to an Air Force press release.
The mission was a routine training flight with the 22rd Fighter Wing and was unrelated to the Air Force Salute Flyover today, officials wrote.
A lone unidentified pilot ejected before the crash, and was taken to base hospital for observation and is in stable condition, the Air Force said.
The jet was temporarily assigned to the 43rd Fighter Squadron, which is part of the 325th Fighter Wing based at Eglin AFB.
There was no loss of life or civilian property damage related to the accident. A board of Air Force members will investigate the accident.
